Here are some things to consider if you’re sending out emails from your server:
1) Use an outside service. It’s too easy to jam up your server and be labeled as a “spam” sender. Once you get tagged as sending too much “spam” your regular emails may be blocked and you’re out of business.
2) Get permission. Getting permission from each subscriber ensures deliverability. Email marketing is a reflection of your brand and if you want to engage customers, you need to understand that they are in charge and they should choose to receive your emails.
3) Understand it’s getting harder. Know that it is getting harder to get your emails delivered. As ISPs continue to evolve their fight to hunt down spam – they’re reviewing opens and clicks to ensure the mail being delivered is actually being opened by the recipient.
Changes to frequency and increased relevancy will boost engagement and improved deliverability.
